About this course

This training addresses the unique challenges and risks associated with tasks performed at heights in wind turbine environments.

Participants will acquire understanding in areas including Personal Fall Arrest Equipment, measures for preventing falls, ladder usage safety, individual and colleague rescue and protocols for handling emergencies.

By enrolling in our GWO Working at Height course, you’ll be prepared to meet the demands of working at heights in the wind energy sector while prioritising the safety of yourself and others at all times.

Who is the course suitable for?

  • This course is suitable for any personnel working in the wind industry.

What will I Learn:

  • Administer basic first aid in accordance with industry standards.
  • Respond effectively to common injuries and medical emergencies in a wind turbine environment.
  • Apply CPR and automated external defibrillator (AED) procedures when necessary.
  • Understand the importance of effective communication and coordination in emergencies.
  • Recognise and respond to severe bleeding, shock, and burns.
  • Identify and manage potential hazards related to first aid situations

Prerequisites

  • A valid WINDA ID is required.
  • Safety footwear is required for all practical sessions.
  • A general standard of fitness is required.
  • Photographic ID Card, such as a drivers licence or passport.

What will I leave with?

  • After successfully finishing the course, participants will receive a GWO-approved Working at Height certificate, which remains valid for a duration of two years. To maintain their certification, delegates are required to undergo Working at height training again before the certificate's expiration date.

What to expect on the day

  • Registration and Welcome: The day typically begins with registration, where participants confirm their attendance and receive any necessary training materials or equipment.
  • Safety Briefing: A safety briefing is conducted to highlight the importance of adhering to safety protocols throughout the training session and in our centre.
  • Catering: Lunch will be provided to all delegates.

Important Information

Participants or individuals booking the course are responsible for ensuring that they meet all the necessary prerequisites and provide the required evidence, such as valid certificates for revalidation courses, on the first day of the course.

Failure to fulfill any of these prerequisites may lead to the participant being requested to leave the course. Please note that no refunds will be issued in such cases.
