Who is this course suitable for?

  • GWO Basic Safety Training is suitable for any personnel looking to start a career in the wind industry.

What modules are included?

  • GWO Fire Awareness - This training is a vital component of ensuring the safety and well-being of professionals working in the wind industry. This comprehensive training equips delegates with essential knowledge about the potential hazards they may encounter in their line of work, specifically related to fire incidents. During the training, delegates learn about the various fire risks that can arise within the unique environment of the wind industry. They become familiar with the different types of fires that can occur and the factors that contribute to their development.
  • GWO First Aid - Administering safe and effective first aid in the wind turbine industry is of paramount importance to ensure the well-being of workers and to respond promptly to any emergencies that might arise. During the training sessions, participants will gain comprehensive knowledge on crucial subjects such as Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), administering basic first aid, adept assessment and communication, initiating emergency assistance, and effectively employing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
  • GWO Working at Heights - This training addresses the unique challenges and risks associated with tasks performed at heights in wind turbine environments. Participants will acquire understanding in areas including Personal Fall Arrest Equipment, measures for preventing falls, ladder usage safety, individual and colleague rescue and protocols for handling emergencies.
  • GWO Manual Handling - Practising safe manual handling practises and the risks associated in performing incorrect techniques.

Prerequisites

  • A valid WINDA ID is required.
  • Safety footwear is required for all practical sessions.
  • A general standard of fitness is required.
  • Photographic ID Card, such as a drivers licence or passport.

What will I leave with?

  • Upon completion of the course, delegates will be awarded with GWO approved certification for all four modules, Fire Awareness, First Aid, Working at Height and Manual Handling.
  • Certification is valid for 2 years, prior to expiry delegates must redo the refresher course to remain certified.

What to expect on the day

  • Registration and Welcome: The day typically begins with registration, where participants confirm their attendance and receive any necessary training materials or equipment.
  • Safety Briefing: A safety briefing is conducted to highlight the importance of adhering to safety protocols throughout the training session and in our centre.
  • Catering: Lunch will be provided to all delegates on the full day but not the 0.5 day.

Important Information

Participants or individuals booking the course are responsible for ensuring that they meet all the necessary prerequisites and provide the required evidence, such as valid certificates for revalidation courses, on the first day of the course.

Failure to fulfil any of these prerequisites may lead to the participant being requested to leave the course. Please note that no refunds will be issued in such cases.
